Ankle Replacement

This surgery has been performed by Dr O’Sullivan for over 16 years. At the moment the prosthesis that he uses is made of both stainless steel metal and plastic and is done surgically through an anterior approach to the ankle. This procedure is done for ankle arthritis with minimal mal alignment. Post-operative recovery is 3-6 months and the patient is immobilised in a boot and non-weight-bearing for 6 weeks.
