Trauma

Trauma about the ankle is commonly caused by motorcycle accidents. When multiple bones are fractured with severe comminution the joint is usually condemned to post traumatic arthritis. So, although surgical fixation with reconstruction is done, the patient will not ever have a normally functioning ankle joint.

Later surgery in the form of Fusion or Replacement might be necessary.
